1886. Doctor Potvin keeps the journal of Project Pickwik, a secret initiative for which the government has entrusted him with a former estate that appears on no map.  

1970. Samuel de Grimwald is bored out of his mind. After reading Doctor Potvin's journal, he will do whatever it takes to keep its secret safe—even if it means travelling to Pickwik with his ageing cat, Mildred.
