After a first adventure, Agatha Petipois is back in action! The young witch imagined by Nicolas and Élise Waucomont returns to LiLys Éditions with a new mystery to solve. This time, it’s Oscar, the mascot of her class, who has mysteriously disappeared.

A disappearance that does not go unnoticed

At the school in the town of Halloween, the days are rarely ordinary. Between vampires, werewolves, gorgons, and mummies, Mr. Mate's students form a rather unusual class.

And their mascot is no exception: Oscar is a skeleton gerbil who has the annoying habit of escaping from his cage to nibble on the school's electrical wires. To the great dismay of Mr. Choucroute, the zombie caretaker, who is regularly called to repair the damage.

So, when Oscar disappears on a Friday afternoon, no one really worries. After all, this is not his first escapade.

No one, except Agatha Petipois.

Passionate about Agatha Christie novels, the young witch has already solved a first case and intends to put her detective skills to good use. For her, Oscar's disappearance could hide something other than a simple runaway.

Suspects, clues, and many questions

Accompanied by Lisa, her friend trapped in a painting, and Romulus, a young werewolf, Agatha embarks on an investigation that quickly becomes complicated.

Who would have an interest in making a skeleton gerbil disappear? Why do certain behaviours seem suspicious? And how can one distinguish true clues from mere coincidences?

Between anonymous messages, improvised interrogations and false leads, the three friends will have to show observation and perseverance.

For Agatha may be a witch, but she does not intend to solve this case with a magic wand. She prefers to observe, reflect, confront testimonies and draw her own conclusions. Even if it means making mistakes along the way.

A youth detective novel that plays with the codes of the genre

With Agatha Petipois and the Disappearance of Oscar, Nicolas and Élise Waucomont offer a police investigation accessible to young readers, in a fantastical universe where humour plays an important role.

The originality of the series lies particularly in this contrast: the characters are creatures usually associated with scary stories, but their concerns resemble those of all children. They go to school, prepare presentations, argue, make up and share their little secrets.

The investigation also allows readers to participate in the story. The clues are there, as are the suspects. It is up to each person to form an opinion and try to discover what happened to Oscar before Agatha.

As the pages turn, the narrative also addresses friendship, mutual aid and the importance of not jumping to conclusions too quickly.

A new adventure to discover independently of the first volume

Readers who already know Agatha will be pleased to find her determined character, her passion for puzzles and her two loyal accomplices.

As for those discovering the series, they can dive straight into this new adventure: the investigation is independent of the previous one.

With its illustrated characters, lively dialogues and a plot built around a mystery to solve, Agatha Petipois and the Disappearance of Oscar is aimed at young readers who enjoy detective stories, fantastical creatures and adventures full of humour.

And one question remains: where has Oscar gone?
